Year-to-year BMW sales drop 4% in May
BMW US reported selling 22,000 new cars in the May of this year. That is combined BMW and Mini series. That means that, based on volume of sales, sales are down 3.9% compared to the May 2009. But that figure is mostly concerning cars delivered to consumers, in the business sector, like BMW light trucks (SAVs) there is actually an increase in sales of 6.8%. As well, worldwide figures are quite positive with 98,000 vehicles sold, up 5% on the same period last year.
BMW struggling to find a name for its new M baby
BMW M's boss Dr. Kay Segler was interviewed by the German magazine 'Auto News' and as it came out
marketing boys and girls at BMW M are struggling to find a right name for their new model in the
Mini series. It has been confirmed that the name M1 is out of question, but some other more creative
names were offered, like 1M, 135tii and 135M.
While we wait for BMW M to resolve this quandary, according to some rumors new car will have some
components borrowed from the M3, like trick differential and the engine will be twin turbo six inline.
According to the same sources, new engine will deliver a bit more than 350hp and 350ft/lbs of torque.
